The Chicago Alumnae Chapter wants you to SAVE THE DATE of Saturday, June 2, 2012 for their Jabberwock 2012. This years Jabberwock Scholarship event will be held at Zhou B Art Center located at 1029 W. 35th st. Dancing, food, raffles, live entertainment, a Masquerade Parade and much more are planned for the evening.

 

Created in 1925, Jabberwock is D’Estee and CAC’s biennial fundraising event wherein the proceeds are specifically used to provide college tuition and book stipends for graduating Chicago Public School students who have achieved academic excellence. Chicago Alumnae currently provides scholarships to 35 students who attend four-year colleges and universities throughout the country. The renewable scholarships range from $4,000 to $500 per year. Scholarships totaling more than a half million dollars have been awarded since its inception.

Chicago Alumnae Chapter, established in 1959, boasts a membership of more than 750 professional women who render public service under the sorority’s five point program thrust — economic development; educational development; international awareness and involvement; political awareness and involvement and physical and mental health.

 

D’Estee, Inc. was established in 1989 by the Chicago Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. as a 501 (c)(3) organization. D’Estee, Inc. was created for the purpose of soliciting grant funds and contributions to fund literacy and other educational, drug rehabilitation, and sex education programs for youth as well as to provide scholarships and fellowships, etc., pursuant to the organization’s articles of incorporation. The D’Estee, Inc. Board of Directors, which is comprised of community representatives and members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., endeavors to maintain and sustain public service focus, manage the fiscal affairs of D’Estee, Inc., and support programs for the benefit of facets of the community.
